Name: (Professor) Allison Blackwell Subject: Defense Against the Dark Arts Former House: Gryffindor Bloodline: Pure
Personality: To most people, Allison seems to have a split personality. When she is around people on her side, she is warm, friendly, and open about everything but her past. She is a person that is always there for everyone and is willing to do anything to help others. Her greatest sense of joy comes from seeing others succeed and helping them reach that point. Allison is known for her brilliance and bravery throughout the wizarding world, her ‘fame’ due to the fifteen years she spent serving as an Auror. Loyalty and honesty are two other strong points in her character, making her a very good comrade and friend.
But to her enemies, Allison becomes a completely different person. Her parents and most of her friends were killed by Death Eaters; therefore, she wants to see every last one of the Dark Lord’s followers rotting in Azkaban. Whenever she meets one, she is cold hearted and very rarely given to sympathy or mercy. She shows no emotion but contempt towards them and hunts them ruthlessly. Allison is a quick thinker who can strategize with the best of them. With a huge knowledge of spells and of the dark arts, Allison makes a formidable enemy. She’s also brave to the point of recklessness – she cares little about her safety but immensely about the safety of those around her and of the world she calls home.
Yet Allison has one other side, a side she keeps hidden from everyone but herself. The memories from the years of dark wizard hunting still haunt her to this day. Close calls with death, seeing her partners die, watching as they removed the bodies of her parents - and later her best friends - from the rubble of their homes… these are just a few of the images that she relives in nightmares every night. Allison talks about her more personal experiences as an Auror very rarely because they are still much too painful.
Appearance: Allison is in her mid thirties, although she looks a bit younger than she actually is. Dark brown layered hair falls gracefully past her shoulders, complimenting her light skin and pretty smile. She had an average build and at 5’9” isn’t exactly tall, but she doesn’t mind. Her ordinary appearance allows her to blend into crowds, a skill that was most handy during her time as an Auror.
The only thing that disrupts the appearance of youth is Allison’s haunted green eyes. Even though they usually are quite cheerful and happy on the surface, the pain and horrors they have witnessed over the years are still quite apparent deep down. She occasionally wears glasses that hide her eyes somewhat, but her standard contacts do nothing to minimize the swirl of emotions underneath.
Family: mother: Ruby Blackwell, magic, murdered by death eater twelve years ago Father: Lawrence Blackwell, magic, murdered by death eater twelve years ago Younger sister: Kristen Blackwell, magic, alive
History: Allison was born into a very old line of wizards, one that dated back to the time when Hogwarts was first opened. Despite that background, her parents made her attend Muggle schools in the years prior to her trip to Hogwarts. During that time, she made a lot of Muggle friends. They were just ordinary people like her – why shouldn’t she be friends with them? This mindset shaped the way she looked at life, even to this day.
A few months after her eleventh birthday, Allison received a letter from Hogwarts. After a hurried week of shopping at Diagon Alley, she made her way off to the school. She was sorted into Gryffindor and began making friends quickly. Allison bonded instantly with a girl her age named Lily Evans and the two quickly became best friends. As the years passed, she got to know not only Lily, but James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew quite well. Allison played Quidditch with Potter as one of the team’s chaser, dated both Remus and Sirius for a while, and helped Peter make it through some of his harder classes. The seven years spent at Hogwarts were among the happiest of her life.
After Hogwarts, she went off to become an Auror. Defense Against the Dark Arts had always been her best subject and it just seemed to be the perfect career for her. Allison had barely gotten through her training when Voldemort came to power. Seeing the threat, she secretly joined the Order of the Phoenix and her life became dedicated to hunting the Dark Lord and his followers down, no matter what the cost.
Throughout the fifteen years spent as an Auror, Allison caught more followers of Voldemort than she could count, a few of which were in his inner circle. She was caught in many sticky situations, the most dangerous of which left her face to face with the Dark Lord himself. Her partner died at the wand of a death eater, saving her life but leaving her scared emotionally forever. And that wasn’t even the worst thing that she went through. A few Death Eaters decided that she needed to be reminded of ‘who was in charge’. So, late one October night, five of them secretly made their way to her parent’s house and killed both of them in cold blood then destroyed the house. Allison was one of the first Aurors on the scene and had the misfortune of seeing her parent’s bodies being carried from the rubble.
Her friends from Hogwarts faired no better. Lily and James Potter were living happily with a newborn son when Voldemort stormed their house and killed both of them. He also tried to kill Harry, but failed. Allison was first on the scene again, memories of her parent’s murder still fresh in her mind. Two more people she cared about were carried away in body bags as she watched, and their young son was now an orphan. She almost spoke up to take him in, but she realized that with her lifestyle, she couldn’t provide a good enough home for the young Harry. He was better off living with his aunt and uncle in a stable and safe environment. Allison still remembers watching Hagrid mount Sirius’s flying motorcycle to take him away through teary eyes. Reoccurring nightmares keep the image sharp in her mind.
But the death of the Potters wasn’t the end of her misfortunes. After Sirius allegedly blew up twelve Muggles while killing Peter Pettigrew, Allison got the duty of escorting her former friend to Azkaban. This proved to be the hardest of all her assignments as an Auror – she was split between her feelings for him and her job. Every other time someone close to her had been caught in the war, they were dead by the time she got there. This wasn’t the case. It was a rough time for her, but in the end, Allison went with her job. Guilt raked her conscious as she watched Sirius being tried and sentenced, but she knew that even if she had let him go, her friendship with Peter would have left her in the same place.
After that, Allison had lost love of the job. Nightmares kept her up all night, and her work was suffering. On top of that, she felt partially responsible for the deaths and misfortunes of her friends and completely responsible for the deaths of her parents. Their faces – the Blackwell’s and Potter’s cold, dead ones and the terrified one of Sirius as he was being sentenced – haunted her both at night and during the day. So after fifteen years of fighting Death Eaters, Allison quit her job as an Auror and settled into teaching.

Classroom Rules:
*Be on time: Class starts four days from the date of the first post. Failure to follow this will result in a warning the first time, 5 points from the house the second time, 15 the third, and 30 plus detention every time after that.
*Participate in class: Not only will you learn nothing if you do nothing, you also might become the next class volunteer....
*Homework Policy: Yes, there will be a bit of homework. Not all the lessons have them, but some do. If that is so, you have to turn in your homework assignment from that lesson before you are allowed into the next. Simple as that.
*O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s: After the 5th Lesson and the 7th Lesson, there will be a test over what you have learned in the prior years. It will be multiple choice and not incredibly long - notes won't be allowed - and then a short practical (RP post). You may retake it if you do poorly, but you are not allowed to move on in Defense Against the Dark Arts until you pass.
*If you have questions, ask!: PM me here. I check them regularly.
